The short version

• The converter runs in your browser. The amounts you type are not sent to me or anyone else.
• There are no analytics or tracking scripts of my own.
• The site shows ads from Google AdSense, which can use cookies. Where the law requires it, Google asks for your consent first.

What stays in your browser

To pick up where you left off, the site keeps your last amount, your working-time settings, your theme and the latest exchange rates in your browser’s local storage. This data never leaves your device. Clearing the site’s data in your browser deletes it.

The address bar holds the amount and settings on screen, so you can share them. The link carries whatever it shows, so share it only with people you want to see it.

Who else is involved

• Central Bank of Brazil. Your browser downloads the exchange rates from the Central Bank’s public API (olinda.bcb.gov.br). As with any web request, the Central Bank receives your IP address; nothing you type is sent.
• GitHub Pages hosts the site and may log visitors’ IP addresses for security. See the GitHub privacy statement.
• Fonts are served by the site itself: there are no requests to Google Fonts or other font services.

Advertising and cookies

The site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google’s consent message asks for your choices before cookies are used for ads, and lets you change them at any time through its privacy and cookie settings link. If you don’t consent to personalised ads, Google can still show non-personalised ads, which use cookies or similar technologies only for purposes such as limiting how often you see an ad, aggregated reporting and fighting fraud, or none at all, depending on your choices.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. The site itself holds no personal data about you: what it stores stays in your browser. For data used by Google to show ads, use the controls above or Google’s own privacy tools. You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, CNPD.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
